About
Judy Kazanjian
Judith L. Kazanjian began piano study at the age of sixteen at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. She received her B.S. degree in Music Education k-12 from West Chester University in 1980. Today, she is a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild and a Steinway Factory Trained professional.
Judith has always loved music, but she became interested in piano technology while teaching music overseas in Papua New Guinea. Surprisingly, there were many pianos in that community, none of which functioned properly. Upon returning to the United States, Judith devoted her life to the study of piano repair. She became a member of the Piano Technicians Guild, studied piano technology at Temple University in Philadelphia, attended conventions and apprenticed with several accomplished piano technicians. Judith attained Registered Piano Technician Status in 2002. The examination process includes a written test covering general knowledge of pianos, piano technology and acoustics; a technical examination which includes action regulation, repairs and a standardized aural tuning examination.
The Piano Technicians Guild is a non-profit, international organization of professional piano service specialists. Through its monthly technical journals, technical presentations at National, Regional and State conventions and chapter programs, the PTG is the leading source of continuing technical educational opportunities in the piano service field.
Judith remains an active member of the PTG, attending seminars and mentoring new technicians. Judith is also Steinway Factory Trained and continues her piano technology education .
